They are both able to cleanse areas and auras of negative energy. White sage typically has a stronger scent. Desert sage is a Native tradition while white sage is a Pagan and Wiccan tradition.

First, open a window or door. This allows the negative energy to “leave” the space. Then, light the sage until it starts to smoke. The smoke is what cleanses. Go in a counterclockwise motion (undoing energy) around the space, making sure to get into corners, closets, cabinets, etc. If it is safe, go into the basement or attic. Repeat as needed.

To cleanse the aura, burn sage until it smokes. Use the smoke to outline your body, making sure to get the bottom of the feet, the palms of the hands and the nape of the neck (pineal gland). Repeat as needed.

Sage spray contains essence of sage and can be used to cleanse spaces as well. This is useful for workspaces, cars, etc. Other alternatives include crystals, specifically black tourmaline and selenite. Sea salt is also a cleansing agent, and singing bowls can be used to clear negative energy.

Energy is an unseen, but felt, force which flows through all living things, including those in nature, such as animals and plants. Energy makes a net of interconnectedness between all beings, called the “subtle body,” and appears in many esoteric religions and belief systems, especially of eastern origin. It is holistic health and meditation.

According to the nature of energy, crystals all vibrate to different energetic “frequencies” and therefore connect to different parts of the subtle body (see chakras). Using crystals in conjunction with physical locations (on the body or in the world), spiritual goals or spiritual practices brings about a heightened energetic outcome.

The chakras are seven energy centers that exist along the middle vertical line of the body. Each chakra controls different emotions and energies, and they can be the source of problems or illness if they are blocked or overactive.

Astrology is a system of self-description based on the positions of the planets and their relationship to zodiac constellations as they move through time and space. Your unique astrology is determined by something called a ‘natal chart,’ which captures the positions of all the planets at the time and place of your birth and can determine attributes from your personality to your path in life.

The signs at the forefront of your personalized astrology are your sun sign, moon sign and rising/ascendant sign. Your sun sign is determined by which astrological constellation the sun was within at the time of your birth and your moon sign is determined by which astrological constellation the moon was within.

The website cafeastrology.com is good for producing a natal chart. You must know your date and time of birth, as well as the geographical place you were born in.

Your sun sign dictates the majority of your outer personality. It is determined by the day and month of your birth. Your moon sign dictates your inner/hidden self or your “dark side”. It is determined by your time and place of birth. Your rising/ascendant sign dictates how you appear to other people on initial meeting or the personality you strive to achieve. It is determined by your time and place of birth.

The synthesis of these three majority signs determine your being, wants and needs, and it can even show you a path toward your purpose in life according to your strengths and weaknesses.

Mercury retrograde is a planetary anomaly that occurs three or four times per year. During this time, Mercury appears to be spinning backwards when observed through a telescope. This is not reality, but a trick of eye due to relating planetary movements. These periods of “retrograde” last for up to a month, and during this time many technical things can be expected to go wrong.

During this time, it is ill advised to take a trip, plan a large event, spend a lot of money, or make any major life decisions, as the nature and energy of mercury retrograde is tricky and usually intercedes to corrupt or thwart the best laid plans. Expect technical difficulties, such as with computers, cars or machines during this time.

The effects of mercury retrograde can be alleviated or counteracted with an agent called Van Van. It is typically thought that plans started before the retrograde, even if they are worked on during the retrograde, are immune to the effects of the retrograde.
